We are in the Windy City for the weekend, having fun sightseeing and eating some fabulous food. I have fallen in love this weekend… with the pretzel roll. We were first introduced to each other at dinner on Friday evening. Rather than the usual bread basket with some white dinner rolls, I opened the black cloth to see a pile of rolls with dark brown blistered skin, the tops revealing the white insides of the roll. I broke the roll in half, slathered on some fresh butter, and took a bite. It was the perfect combination of a chewy crust and a soft, doughy inside, with a subtle “pretzel” flavor. My hand proceeded to reach into the basket more times than I would like to admit. Love at first bite.
